About the Filmmakers, Redneck Roots, Joanne Hock
Joanne Hock, Director, Redneck Roots

Joanne Hock | Writer | Director

Joanne brings a peace and confidence to her work that only comes with experience, wisdom and God-given talent. She directs a variety of content, from feature films and television series to commercials and corporate videos. When she’s not behind the lens, you can find her in the dark quiet of the editing suite. In addition to directing her many documentary passion projects, Joanne is a deft screenwriter, director of photography and all-around creative force. When we can bear to part with her, we loan her remarkable skills to the likes of Discovery ID, UPtv and the Hallmark Channel, where she has directed both episodic television and made-for-TV movies.

Joanne has been honored with countless industry awards, including three midsouth Emmy Awards for her work as a Director, a Gold Medal Award for Direction and a coveted Grand Prize Award presented by the New York International Film Festival. In addition, her latest script, “Wednesdays at the Gem,” was recognized as a semi-finalist in the Academy Awards of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences’ prestigious Nicholl Fellowship Screenwriting competition.
